Welcome
Welcome to my website
My name is Barry Day and I am an amateur photographer living in Portsmouth.
I first became interested in photography in 1959 when I was given a Brownie 44a camera as a birthday present. I learnt the basics of how to develop and print monochrome photographs at school, but for many years I worked exclusively in colour slides becoming an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) in 1987.
My main interest is in photographing “Faces & Places”. Fifteen years ago I established a darkroom in my loft and began making monochrome prints for club competitions and exhibitions.
In 2001 I gained Credit distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (CPAGB) with a portfolio of monochrome prints and in the same year made the switch to digital monochrome printing.
During 2009 I have started making colour images including some monochrome with a hint of colour.
I am a member of Havant Camera Club in Hampshire.
I hope that you enjoy the images on the website, which represent my best work taken over the last 15 years.
